TO LEARN IS TO GROW
Continuous learning should focus first on developing complete knowledge and skills related to all of the products and services in your current job. Only then should you branch out to a broader spectrum of still highly important skills. This might include training in communication, sales, client service, leadership and management, and so on. You will also want to explore the skills you will need to make the leap to the next position.
Ask yourself the following questions to explore your strengths and areas for improvement as you move forward in your career:
- What do you think have been your primary talents and skills accounting for your success so far?
- What accomplishments have given you the most satisfaction? Why? What does this say about future assignments, career direction, etc.?
- What new position or task have you adapted to in the last year or two?
- What skills or abilities do you want to learn?
