THERE IS MORE THAN CASH ON THE TABLE
Many times some of these items are not requested and not offered, but might be offered if you asked for them. Attending a conference, for example, can be important because so many of the people you want to meet may be in the same place at the same time.
Keep the following in mind:
- Negotiate for your total health benefits package for as long as possible and find out about continuation beyond that time at your expense through COBRA
- Agree upon who will give you a reference
- Request expenses to conferences or conventions that will allow you to network for your next job
- Determine if you are eligible for relocation costs including purchase of your home, real estate fees, closing costs, mortgage rate differential
- Learn the dollar value of family transportation costs and lodging fees
- Ask if you can use office space, administrative assistant services and a telephone while in your job search
- Ask how long your office phone will be answered if you are not offered office space
