Deciding If It’s Time to Go: You Have a Plan

There are times that the situation you are in is excellent, you enjoy working with your boss and colleagues, and the company is growing.  It is just time to implement a plan that you have held for some time regarding a change of venue, department or function.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Assess whether two-three years in your current job will give your next boss or employer confidence that you have the necessary skills and experience
  • Analyze your plan and make sure that you have spent time evaluating where you have been, where you are now, and where the next step will take you
  • Evaluate whether you have the necessary skills to perform successfully at the next level
  • Assess whether your network has expanded enough and is current enough to help you to accomplish your goal
